World Heritage Sites
It has been a huge privilege to not only visit a large
number of World Heritage Sites, but also to have had
the opportunity to work on several of the key British
sites and emerging sites. This selection of photographs

In Maincy near Melun in central France lies the palace and gardens
of Vaux-le-Vicomte, built from 1658-61 for Nicolas Fouquet, the then
superintendent of finances for Louis XIV. The gardens were laid out
by Andre le Notre and the collaboration between him, architect Le Vau
and painter Le Brun marked the start of the style of the age. Fouquet
notoriously lost his new residence, his job and his freedom the night
of the celebrations of it having been completed. Louis went on to
commission Versailles (T 1996)
