Favourites
The reasons for taking any photograph are many and
various and sometimes something about a photograph
can make it one of the photographer's favourites.
Many times it is the memories associated, but occasionally
it can be because something has happened with the
photograph since then
Lime trees are a perpetual fascination, as may be seen in various
places on this site. This photograph shows some of the phoenix
Lime trees in the Buxted Park lime avenue, that may have been
planted originally in 1630, but was heavily felled as a result of the
strong winds in the 1987 Great Storm. While some of the pheonix
trees are not growing in alignment but across the path of the avenue
and will need to be thinned as the years pass, they retain the genes
of the early trees and consequently are likely to have the more
robust form of the parent trees
