Higher Plants and Bryophytes
Although Simon Davey spends most of his professional life undertaking surveys in lichens, he is a member of the British Bryological Society and of the Botanical Society of the British Isles and undertakes both higher plant and bryological surveys. He believes as hinted at above that a broad based approach to survey work allows a more accurate evaluation of sites. He has undertaken bryophyte surveys especially on the sandstone outcrops of the Ashdown Forest in Sussex for English Nature.
