Gazetteers
These photographs are interesting to take in a different
way, for the need is to explore the reasons for why a
feature is to be included in a list or gazetteer and to
record key features. Getting too clever about how
the photograph is taken can be counter-productive
and mask the reason the photograph is needed
Cast iron seats on the Promenade part of the Riverside Leisure Area,
Gravesend, Kent carry the coat of arms of pre-1975 Gravesend
Borough Council and may date from the 1930s when much of the
Promenade was laid out, although several postcards show them
in the Gordon Pleasure Gardens and in New Tavern Fort at this period
