Quasar® K
The Quasar Keratoconus lens has been developed by utilising the continuous curve technology of the original Quasar. In normal keratoconus designs the spherical peripher curves need to flatten considerably, especially in the advanced stages of keratoconus. This can, in many cases, lead to differences of peripheral curve radii in excess of 1.00mm at R2, 2.00mm at R3 and 5.00mm at R4.
These large variations in peripheral radii result in junctions at each change of radii and are considered a cause of discomfort for the patient. The new Quasar 'K' lens however has eradicated the junction areas resulting in a smooth peripheral area and enhanced comfort for the patient. The peripheral aspheric curvature can also be altered by virtue of the Sag II design. This gives more edge clearance to take account of the variations in keratoconus peripheral flattening and is available by contacting our technical services department.
