Self-catering gîtes

We have two gîtes available: the single storey La Grange, with it's modern atmosphere, and the more traditional, two storey La Petite Maison. Both gîtes are available for rental all year round. Each gîte has its own private garden, and is fully equipped and furnished.

Heated swimming pool

While you are with us relax in the heated swimming pool. Situated within the quiet and secluded grounds of La Ferme de l'Église, it is perfect for enjoying a dip or a pool-side drink at anytime of the day. The 9 metre by 4.5 metre pool runs between depths of 1.4 metre and 1.2 metre at the shallow end, is heated to 28 degrees celcius, and complies with AFNOR safety standards NPF 90-308, as required by French law.

Gîte lets

Lettings run from Saturday to Saturday and long term lets can be arranged for those of you wanting to make a base in the area.

We are happy to offer week, fortnight or flexible short breaks. And, however long you stay, we can offer a wealth of literature and personal knowledge about the wide range of attractions in the surrounding area.

Local amenities

Village shop
There is an épicerie (general shop) in the village that is a couple of minutes walk, turn right out of the drive then turn right into the driveway that has gas bottles in the entrance. There is a bread van that comes to the village on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Bread can be ordered in the shop for collection later in the morning. Twice a week a meat van comes to the village and once a week there are vans delivering vegetables and fish. You’ll need to listen out for the van horns and they generally stop by the car park (by the mairie and the shop).

Supermarkets
There are six supermarkets within 12 miles (19 km) of La Ferme de l’Église:

Intermarché Lezay (8 miles, 13 km): This is the only supermarket in the area that is open on Sunday from 09:00 to midday.

Intermarché Couhé (6 miles, 9.6 km)

SuperU Sauzé Vaussais (8 miles, 13 km)

Civray Savigné on the outskirts there is a large supermarket and shopping mall.

Leclerc Ruffec (12 miles, 19km)

Auchan on the road to Poitiers, and other large Hypermarkets in Poitiers.

Sunday supermarket opening times
In addition to the Intermarche at Lezay, there is a small Spar in Sauze Vaussais open until midday, and a COOP in the centre of Civray also open to midday.

Fuel availability
All of the supermarkets sell fuel. The Intermarché in Lezay is the only one selling fuel on a Sunday, 09:00–12:00. These are all serviced by attendants taking cash or card payments.

The petrol stations on the N10 are open on Sundays. Some of these are ‘express’, which means you can only pay using a credit or debit card. The French language instructions on the automatic pumps are fairly straight-forward to understand, so you can use your cards issued in the UK.
