What is the advantage of Perlane?
The big advantage of Perlane is that it is a non-permanent and natural treatment. The
fluid injected is a man-made version of a gel, hyaluronic acid, a tissue friendly
substance that occurs naturally in the body. This gently, but instantly, fills out the
skin to plump up the lips.
Lips start to thin out as you age but Perlane helps lips stay young looking and smooth.
How long is a treatment?
The treatment is quick, approximately 30 minutes. The inconvenience of a skin test can be
avoided with Perlane because it is a non-animal product, unlike collagen.
How long does Perlane
last?
The effects of Perlane also last up to twice as long as collagen.
A top up injection of Perlane is necessary once a year to maintain the effects. When top
up treatments cease, Perlane biodegrades naturally and safely in the skin - the gel simply
disappears.
Is the injection painful?
The injection may prick a little but normally, no anaesthesia is needed for treatment of
wrinkles and folds. Most people report that the injection is relatively painless.
Side Effects
Perlane is a safe product. Since hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body, the
skin does not react to the material. With over 100 000 people treated today, only a very
small number of reactions have been reported. These reactions may consist of prolonged but
temporary redness, swelling, itching or tenderness. Most have lasted for a couple of
weeks.
What is the difference between Perlane and Restylane?
The difference between Restylane and Perlane is the size of the particle (with Perlane
containing more hyaluronic acid). This means that Perlane does a better job of filling
deep lines while Restylane is used in fine lines or in thin skinned people.
