How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra™ works in the lower layers of the skin in order to smooth and firm the
treated areas of the face. Sculptra™ is a unique substance which is gradually and
naturally broken down by the body. Sculptra™ is immunology inert, so that no allergy
tests are necessary before beginning with treatment.
The number of necessary injections depends on many factors. After the first treatment,
your practitioner will recommend whether you need any subsequent treatments and how many
these should be. Generally, several treatments can be necessary to obtain the required
results. However, in contrast to some other treatments which require frequent refresher
sessions, after the end of your Sculptra™ programme the results will last up to 2
years (The results can differ depending on age, wrinkling and the type of procedure used).
Who performs the
treatment?
A qualified practitioner who has been trained to use the correct procedure for
Sculptra™ performs the treatment. Your Healthcare Professional will clean your skin
and then inject Sculptra™ in the areas of your face being treated.
Does the treatment hurt?
As with all injections you will feel some discomfort. It may be that you notice a brief
burning sensation at the injection site. An ice packed applied after the treatment will
help to calm your skin. If necessary, your practitioner can also give you a local
anaesthetic
What do I need
before the treatment?
Your Healthcare Professional will give you special aftercare instructions. These
include massaging the treated areas of your face in the first few days after the
treatment. All you need is a few minutes twice a day.
Are there any side
effects?
The most common side effect with the use of Sculptra include injection-related side
effects at the site of injection such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising,
or swelling. These effects generally resolve in 2-6 days.
How much does it cost?
