Entertainment
Brighton is home to countless entertainment venues. From some 300 local pubs many of which offer live music and comedy every night, to the Theatre Royal where you can see a variety of shows including musicals recently transferred from the West End and the latest drama from the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Brighton Dome and The Brighton centre just two of the venues where you can see some of the best bands on tour in the UK. Brighton’s nightclubs are world renowned and offer every kind of music from cutting edge techno and house to salsa and Latin.
Shopping
Brighton is a shopping heaven! The city has several major shopping areas which offer something for every budget. Western Road has many low budget shops perfect for souvenirs. Churchill Square offers all the major brands you could ever want or need. The North Laine and the Lanes are two of the most unique shopping districts in the country. Here independent shops sell just about everything you can imagine, surrounded by lovely cafes and restaurants.
Special Events
Brighton hosts an extensive array of festivals and events every year. There is something happening no matter what time of year you choose to visit and many festivals are free! In spring we have Brighton Festival (the biggest arts festival in the UK), Brighton Festival Fringe, Sussex Beer Festival and Brighton Japan Festival, amongst others. In summer there is Paddle Round the Pier, Brighton Pride and the Soundwaves Festival. In autumn you can enjoy the Food and Drink Festival, Brighton Comedy Festival and the White Nights. And through winter there is the film festival, CINECITY and the Burning of the Clocks.
Sports
Brighton is home to some of the most significant professional sports venues in the South. The brand new Amex football stadium, which is home to Brighton and Hove Albion is a great place to see English football at home. The PROBIZ County Cricket Ground in Hove is located just minutes from the school and is a fantastic place to enjoy this traditional English game. We also have the Yellow Wave Bach Venue where you can see professional beach volleyball and play it yourself! Brighton is a great place to learn water sports and the city also has many parks, leisure centres and gyms which are cheap and easy to access.
