INTRODUCTION OF QUALITY SYSTEMS

For some time now we have been assessing and monitoring the value to participating Companies of the ‘people’ training standard ‘Investors in People’. We have as a result come to the conclusion that any business that does not seriously invest in its workforce by using recognised training and evaluation techniques cannot possibly expect to compete seriously in national and world markets. In its lowest common denominator, training your staff is simply self-preservation. However, at its highest ideal it is a recognition that the people in an organisation are its most important asset and therefore are its real strength and thus holds the key to its future. We are therefore, during this year, committing ourselves to commence the process that will qualify us an ‘Investor in People’ accredited Company.

The last few years have been challenging for us, however we now feel that conditions are ideal for establishing Company wide quality and benchmarking standards. We have senior staff experienced in both the introduction and day to day operation of quality systems and are keen to introduce better systems and methods that not only control the ongoing process but also gives a standard method of rectification for those rare times of system malfunction. The more we grow our core business the greater will be the justification towards process rationalisation and hence greater reliance upon sound quality and system standards. Our target is to achieve the introduction of ISO 9001/2 quality systems with the objective of achieving full accreditation within the next two years. We will also investigate the environmental quality standard ISO 9007 to ensure that we do not miss the mood and trends stemming from social legislation from the European Union.

POTENTIAL OF ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE

We have always believed that strong financial management is crucial in running a modern and vibrant enterprise and that has never been more important than in today’s trading environment. We wish to embrace e-commerce in all its variants to provide our clients with economical solutions to their problems. The more that you rationalise your supply base the greater is the potential to harness and utilise new technology. The opportunities are limitless for closer participation with clients given the rapid and exciting developments occurring in the electronic and digital communications industry. The possibilities to communicate electronically for such things as order processing, estimating, order amendments, order confirmation, receipt, progress of order and finally delivery note and invoice are the more obvious features.
