The diverse woodlands comprise around several hundred different tree and large bush types, including Acacia, Acer, Ash, Azalea, Beech, Birch, Buddleia, Camellia, Cedar, Cherry, Horse Chestnut, Cypress, Elder, Elm, Fir, Laurel, Lime, Maidenhair, Magnolia, Maple, Nut, Oak, Palm, Pine, Poplar, Redwood, and Yew.

Woodland picnic area

Our woodland picnic area provides a haven of tranquility. Only a couple of minutes from the fairground and visitor centre, the picnic area has large grass lawns and a number of picnic benches.

Woodland Gardens

Hollycombe has a variety of woodland trees including Beech, Lime and Conifers. Depending on the time of year, the woodland is carpetted with ferns, bluebells and daffodils.

Azalea Walk

Azalea walk, inside the loop of the Quarry Railway, was planted with the then new Mollis hybris in the mid 1920s. The Azaleas and rhododendrons are at their spectacular best in May.

Peacocks

Hollycombe is home to several breeding pairs of peacocks (and peahens) who can normally be seen around the visitor centre, quarry railway station and the farm.
