The Golden Gallopers

This is the classic fairground ride with galloping horses. The Steam Gallopers appear even more golden at night, lit by hundreds of light bulbs which reflect off the rides revolving mirrors.

The Razzle Dazzle

Hollycombe has the only surviving example of this ride which takes on a magical, and colourful, quality in the dark Fairground at Night evenings. Be warned - if you don't scream loud enough we can turn the lights off !

Dobby Set

Mr Field's Steam Circus is believed to date from the late 1870's making it the world's oldest surviving mechanically driven fairground ride.

The Savage platform horses, or Dobbies, is the forerunner of the Gallopers which feature the addition of cranked 'galloping' motion of the horses to the Dobbies' circular motion. The ride is driven by a Savage Steam Centre Engine and riders are entertained by an 1880's 62 key Gavioli trumpet barrel organ.

The Steam Chair-O-Planes

Riding this at night is a real treat - the faint smell of smoke, the fairground music, the lights, and a refreshing breeze as you whirl round.

Steam swing boats

A ride you can control yourself. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of the fairground as you swing - as low or high as you wish.

Steam Yacht

Brightly lit at the entrance to the fairground, this ride is even more popular at night than it is during daytime.

The Big Wheel

This brightly lit steam powered Big Wheel is an amazing experience at night, as you discover how Hollycombe's island of Edwardian entertainment is surrounded by miles of dark countryside.

Emperor

The world's oldest surviving showman's works for a living generating electricity for the fairground's electrical rides and lights.

Juvenile Platform

Especially for our younger visitors, this ride is always popular daytime and night.

Austin Cars

Another ride for our younger visitors. We have a set of five Austin cars build by Supercar in 1948. The ride was purchased from a travelling fairground family in 1986.

Haunted House

This is a classic Edwardian haunted house is the one attraction unaffected by night - it is almost completely dark inside during the day !

Bioscope

A bright beacon in the fairground, the brightly lit Bioscope, Marenghi Organ and Leiston Town showman's engine is a star attraction. Here you may find a classic film, or even fire juggling !

Portable Steam Engines

Working just outside the fairground, these engines generate steam for the Gallopers, Razzle Dazzle and Steam Yacht.
