Liz Smith, Account Manager

Ask Liz which part of her job she most enjoys and she’ll tell you supporting clients to improve their media relations – which isn’t surprising as she worked for years as an award-winning journalist writing for regional and national newspapers and magazines. All that hands-on experience means she’s got a great eye for identifying stories, a professional rapport with the media and a knack for writing tight, snappy press releases which get printed.

Second on Liz’s list of favourite tasks is producing newsletters. She’s created plenty since moving into communications management in the not-for-profit sector, and she still gets a buzz from the whole creative process. There’s something very satisfying about coming up with practical ideas and turning them into an interesting, eye-catching publication which hits the mark.

Louise Micklewright, Assistant Account Executive

Louise’s initial involvement with East was as an enthusiastic participant in the company’s work experience programme during her final year of university. Her strong communication skills, together with her positive attitude and considerable work ethic made her a natural fit with a vibrant PR and Marketing agency. She quickly secured a job with East as Assistant Account Executive and started her professional working life soon after graduating with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature from the University of Brighton.

Louise loves writing – whether that’s producing copy for press releases, newsletters or communications plans. She’s particularly motivated by the company’s social aims and enjoys supporting clients to creatively improve their communications activity. She also gets quite a thrill from seeing her press releases appear in newspapers and magazines.

In her spare time, Louise is interested in music and likes to visit friends in far-flung corners of the UK.

As well as being a supportive environment in which to work, the team really involved me in all aspects of the business, from writing a press release, to calling the media and helping with a photo call at the press launch event for the Brighton Carnival.”
