What is Rosacea

Rosacea can begin with a “blush” or redness that progresses from intermittent to constant. This “blush” or general redness may be followed or preceded by distinct or individually recognised larger blood vessels. The severity of redness can increase as a result of the following stimuli:

:: Heat
:: Exercise
:: Stress
:: Alcohol consumption
:: Hot beverage consumption (especially caffeine
   according to some patients)
:: Spicy food
:: Various other foods, such as chocolate
:: Rubbing or skin irritation

These stimuli are believed to produce dilation or widening of the blood vessels.
An increased amount of blood and/ or blood vessels produces the increased red colour.

The natural course of Rosacea may include episodes of improvement and worsening. Obviously, patients with Rosacea should attempt to avoid any conditions or substances that may cause their condition to flare or worsen.

Patients with pimples [papules (red bumps) and/or pustules (red bumps with white pus at their tops)] may subsequently develop the severe enlargement of the nose called Rhinophyma. Rhinophyma is a relatively rare and a later manifestation of Rosacea.

What conditions can you treat?

We can treat:

::
  Rosacea
::  Acne Rosacea
::  Blushing
::  Facial Flushing
::  Red Skin
::  Red Face
::  Redness
::  Birthmarks
::  Port Wine Stains

How do you treat these conditions?

We treat all these conditions with IPL.

What is IPL Facial Rejuvenation?

IPL technology can be used to help restore the skin's youthful appearance through a process called Photorejuvenation for face and body.

Photorejuvenation is a dynamic, non ablative process, which generates Intense Pulsed Light to safely reduce the melanin (dark pigment) in the skin, so that pigmented lesions fade and slowly disappear.

What are the advantages of IPL?

IPL is for all skin types and all ages.  The process is ideal for patients with active lifestyles because the procedure requires no downtime and has a low risk of side effects.

How does IPL work?

The treatment is quick, gentle and non-invasive.

The earlier blush and/or blood vessels of Rosacea are best treated by Intense Pulsed Light. Although some lasers can also treat these problems, patients report that lasers are usually more painful and frequently, if not almost always, produce side effects such as a purple bruise that lasts for approximately 2 weeks.

Using completely different settings to treat smaller or larger vessels, IPL can routinely treat and improve the blush or blood vessels with the patient comfortable with the virtually painless treatment.

What does the treatment involve?

Our skilled and medically qualified operatives use the powerful Vasculight system to penetrate the skin with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)™ to the exact depth of the unwanted blood vessels. The IPL energy is absorbed by the blood in the vessels causing the generation of heat inside the vessels.

The temperature rise inside the treated blood vessels causes them to collapse and break down with virtually no visible symptoms.

Within a short space of time the blood vessel has almost entirely disappeared leaving no visible trace of the treatment on the skin surface.

The treatment involves no surgery, needles nor chemicals. Our patients report no pain, merely a mild tingling sensation within the skin.

IPL is considered the most effective, convenient and comfortable solution to this acutely embarrassing condition.

How many treatments do I need?

The treatment is generally administered as a series of between 3 – 7 treatments at 3 – 4 week intervals.

The whole face is treated, not only the affected area, as this gives a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing result.

Some treatments may be possible on the same day as the consultation.

What results can I expect?

IPL Skin Treatments using Photorejuvenation are recognised for a very high measure of patient satisfaction.

Patients are very pleased with treatment results because the process treats the full face, neck, chest or hands, rather than addressing a single isolated area or imperfection.

Patients can see dramatic results within a very short time.

How much does it cost?

Treatments start from £200. However, the exact price we quote is completely individual and depends on many factors and can only be properly determined by our fully qualified Doctor or Nurse who will assess your condition and guide you to the most suitable treatment options.

We have developed a policy to offer the best advanced treatments at the most competitive and affordable prices. Our aim is to give Harley Street Service at High Street prices.

This consultation is completely free, our friendly and highly professional staff will quickly put you at ease.

Who performs the treatment?

Our laser treatments are carried out by nurse practitioners who have several years of experience in this field.

Each has the relevant training required to ensure that they give the very best of care and attention to our patients. As well as administering treatments they are also highly qualified to advise on what is the appropriate course of treatment for each patient and are committed to working towards the desired result.
