Card industry security standards are developed by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) and are mandated by payment schemes, including Visa and MasterCard, for use by banks, processors and merchants who accept payment cards. In October 2008, the PCI SSC launched version 1.2 of the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) which specifies the security requirements to be met by payment application software vendors who supply their products to banks, processors and merchants. For more information on the PCI SSC and the PA-DSS standard, go to the PCI Security Standards Council website. Essentis has been working with its Qualified Security Assessor Trustwave to get its applications validated against the PA-DSS standard. Trustwave’s Report on Validation for Essentis Acquirer 3.6 and Essentis Interchange 3.27 has been submitted to the PCI SSC and accepted by the council.
