ABB's New C1300 Chart RecorderABB’s new C1300 advanced circular chart recorder combines established chart recording technology with time-saving features to provide a powerful recording solution for a range of industrial applications.
A key feature of the C1300 is its two LCD graphical display panels, each capable of carrying multiple lines of text, making the C1300 particularly ideal for totalization applications in the water and waste industry where multi-digit totalizer values and engineering units need to be displayed. Text prompts are also displayed in full English, greatly simplifying both the configuration and operation of the recorder. The use of transflective display technology ensures that the display can be read even in locations where there is high ambient light.

For totalization applications, the C1300’s use of advanced totalizer technology eliminates the time and complexity associated with manually programming a traditional recorder. Relationships between volumetric values and instantaneous flow values are automatically calculated and used to configure the C1300, making it easy to totalize in volumetric units different from that of the instantaneous flow measurement. Real-time reset functions also enable operators to simply program the totalizer to reset at specific times to automatically gather daily, weekly and monthly totals.
Datalogging technology from ABB’s SM series electronic data recorders is utilized by the C1300. A totalizer log automatically stores totalizer readings for future reference, which can be viewed via the unit’s front panel. This means that operators can now access historical data on dates, times and individual totalizer values, eliminating the need to routinely visit the recorder to collect totalizer readings. |
Configuring the C1300 can be carried out via the front display panel or configuration files can be downloaded via the unit’s PC configuration back up port. In applications where multiple C1300 units may be installed, this feature can help to greatly reduce configuration time by enabling operators to copy configuration files between different recorders rather than having to individually configure each recorder. Another significant benefit of the C1300 is the ease with which it can be upgraded to meet changing applications requirements. The use of plug-in modules permits straightforward addition of extra recording channels, math capabilities and relay outputs while the unit is still in-situ. Easy installation of the C1300 is made possible by a choice of mounting options, enabling the unit to be fitted onto a panel, wall or pipe mounting. Detachable terminal blocks permit trouble-free connection of input and output wiring, whilst an optional power switch within the recorder provides mains isolation where necessary. Full IP66 and NEMA 4X front face protection make the C1300 suitable for use in hosedown environments and applications subject to high levels of dust and humidity. The C1300 can also operate without disruption caused by interference in high-electrical noise environments, thanks to industrial standard noise emission and immunity protection. |
