fully-fledged! but to name but a few.
Weather: A fine sunny June Day
Once
again the members of the Royal and increasingly Ancient Last Hoorah Golf Soc.
have a debt of gratitude to pay to James Largesse Tierney for organizing
another champion day with a massive turnout. Our numbers were swollen by 10 of
JT’s hand-picked guests who turned out to be jolly fine fellows and LHGS should
sign them up now!
The
morning’s entertainment took the form of a Texas Scramble - always a popular
format as everyone has a turn at immortality and there’s always a chance of
posting a low number. Well, that was certainly the case with the Warlord and
his cohorts as they stormed home with
an incredible 5 under (over 9 holes).
HOORAH !
Out on
the terrace, the morning’s exertions had taken its toll as the throng slaked
their thirst with much beer and Pimms and what was that drink HO was quaffing
with his little pinkie cocked so daintily? Why it was perry or as we like to
call it BABYCHAM. Pink beret on its way to the little lady if we can wrest it
from PE. (note from Ed - point taken DA!)
And so
to the afternoon for a return to the trad. Stableford comp. but this time on
the West course which was looking its summery best. All got away after a
fashion with Big Rick and JT finding fairway but HO played the oddest shot I’ve
ever seen him produce with his spitting cobra followed by another rum ‘un.
Boys, stay clear of the perry is the salutary tale to be learned. Thankfully,
the effects soon wore off and HO got the one and only birdie of the day
(actually I am told he missed a 7 foot eagle putt in the process) and JT the
par 3 competition with 2 over. Congrats to you both. Modesty will draw a veil
over the winner of the front 9 with 18 pts, 19 pts on the back 9 and winner
overall. Particularly as his HCP is as questionable as his putting grip. (note
from ED – you are TOO modest o eagley one – and stalking the Red Jacket in a concerningly
focused manner)
Afterwards,
we adjourned to the Newick Tandoori where JT regaled the entire restaurant with
tales of strange sexual practices such
as ‘trunking’ and doing a ‘dirty
Sanchez’. Marvellously edifying and uplifting all in one.
Over to
Stato for the nuts and bolts.
