The Last Hoorah Golfing Society

Minutes of April Meeting

Date:              28 April 2005

Present:        PB, DA, NM, HO, MD, IM & JH

Venue:          Piltdown GC

General

April’s meeting of the honorary members was organised by none other than “Two Gloves Osler”.  Those who know Mr Osler (the cognoscenti as they are called) will be less than surprised to hear that he organised a game of golf at the very end of his front garden making sure that he could mess around indoors all morning and make everybody travel to the very heart of Mid-Sussex without the slightest regard for their travelling expenses.

The Society welcomed Jason Humphreys on his second outing together with rookies Ian Mackenzie and Mike Davies.

Needless to say that the buffoon of the month award was held by Secretary Barnes (Suitcase) going into the day’s play and the award was no less hotly contested because of that fact.  Many came close to stripping Suitcase of the honour that he had twice retained (smashing all previous records for buffoonery).  Obvious candidates were NM aka “the Brahmin” for trying to convince the gathered dignitaries that all Indians with names ending in “jee” were posh!  Other candidates were JH for not hitting a ball in the air all day.  The Doctor came close with an outward score of 14 points before forgetting that he had failed to pack the WD40 and the wheels falling off spectacularly as a result and finishing with head hung in shame.

Nevertheless, the Secretary is proud to confirm that the buffoon of the month award has been retained (for a record third term in office) by unanimous vote by the said Secretary for failing to spot the obvious pitfalls of going into the most expensive curry house in Sussex (nay the World, nay the Universe) and deciding to spoof with a band of hardened professionals and incurring a bill of some magnitude as a result.  Gentlemen, I thank you.  And so to formalities…

The balance of money held in the birdie pot was applied to reduce the buffoon of the month’s curry bill.

Other Business

DA to arrange May’s meeting, PB still to re-arrange the missed February meeting.  By the time the buffoon secretary had gotten around to typing the minutes however we were all booked on the Chunnel bound for Le Touquet and it is therefore sorely regretted that by the time you read these minutes it will not come as much of a surprise to you.

A resolution to prepare May’s minutes in a timely fashion was duly passed by “Msr Les Deux Gants Noirs”
