Make a donation > How We Spend Your Money Money received through individual donations and from fundraising events is used to run vital Hearing Concern LINK services for families affected by acquired hearing loss. Here are a few examples of the work we are doing with your donations: • We pay the travel expenses of trained peer-support volunteers who provide vital emotional and practical support for families affected by acquired hearing loss living in their community. • We are training deafened and hard of hearing volunteers as self-management facilitators to support delivery of our Self-Management Course; equipping participants with the communication skills, self-confidence and peer-support to live positively with acquired hearing loss. • We are supporting families of deafened adults to attend our Intensive Rehabilitation Programme, equipping families for a ‘life after deaf.’ • We provide a Helpdesk which handles 200 calls and emails per month – responding to the enquiries of deafened and hard of hearing people, their family members and professionals from across the UK. • We pay for staff to represent the needs of families affected by acquired hearing loss on committees discussing issues as diverse as health, mental health, employment and telecommunications. Contributions large and small are invaluable for the work that we do. Why not sign up to donate a small amount regularly – enabling us to plan for the future with your ongoing support? .
